On the 14th of January when Tiscali officially becomes part of Talk Talk, current Tiscali users will see a bump in their pricing plans. Many UK home phone users are choosing to opt out of the price increase and take this moment as an opportunity to consider offers from all of the best UK home communications providers.

With 20,000,000 dissatisfied customers, it is no surprise that so many Tiscali customers have decided not to continue service with Tiscali/Talk Talk and have chosen to come back to BT. In a similar note a recent report from consumer assistance website, HomePhoneChoices.co.uk details that 40% of all United Kingdom home communications buyers base their choice of phone line providers on reliability more than price.

This might explain why Tiscali, a company with astoundingly low prices failed in the UK. They were cheap but were they good? This also shows us why BT continues to be the largest of all the UK landline providers. While BT may not offer the lowest prices they do tend to operate with the public’s interest in their corporate mindset as evidenced by their financial and technical involvement in Project Canvas.

Project Canvas will further BT’s ability to offer on demand targeted programs at specified costs. The same report mentions speed of connections as the second most important factor in choosing total telecommunications package. In this area Virgin Media excels but BT still manages to be quite competitive. Certainly anyone having a price increase forced upon them will want to consider every other home phone alternative.
