It would appear that finally after five years of waiting telecom’s giant BT has begun to make good on their promise of establishing a super high speed fiber optic network that will eventually serving as replacement of coaxial cable. With much of BT’s network still reliant upon single strand copper at least to the street side cabinet, this commitment to the latest technology seems to be a great move on the part of BT. They have recently announced placement of almost 4G speed fibre optic networks in London, the west midlands and the South East. BT has come under criticism of late for their tendency to place these upgrades in exchanges that are of a more affluent demographic. While it is true the high speed network placement is better served by greater demand it should also be noted that cost of new cable placement in rural areas is greater simply due to larger distances needing to be traversed. Certainly the addition of more ultra high speed Internet connections will make broadband comparison throughout the United Kingdom all the more difficult. How does compare broadband if one area has available 40 MB downloads with a 20 GB size limit for 40 pounds per month while another area is capped at 8 MB download speed? These sites are almost always completely free of charge and can be found by using a simple search for “broadband comparison tool.” On such websites you will find general information such as pricing and service for your area as well as very specific tools for use in switching broadband providers such as help in getting your MAC code. The MAC code is a special serial number attached to your broadband account that travels with you from provider to provider. Not having access to this code can delay a simple broadband switch by up to a month. When switching to a broadband without phone line option such as service from Virgin Media having the MAC code is an essential time saver.
